Who Are TSZX?

Lina - Dana - Stephanie - Sunday

The Grace (Korean: 천상지희 더 그레이스; Chinese: 天上智喜 The Grace) is a South Korean a capella girl group formed by SM Entertainment in 2005. It consists of four members that specialize in singing, dancing, and acting.

The Grace was known as TSZX before the promotion of their 3rd Korean single (My Everything) around the end of 2006, at which the group changed their name to The Grace to signal the change of the group's style to a more “graceful” one. TSZX is the romanization of the Mandarin Chinese pronunciation, Tiān Shàng Zhì Xǐ. In Japan, the group is still officially known as Tenjōchiki, which is also abbreviated (though less frequently) as TJCK.

Oricon Style Interview

Posted by Anonymous On Friday, October 24, 2008 0 comments

Loosely translated and paraphrased from Japanese:
- The song is very gentle and has a warm feeling.
[Dana] Thank you. We have been releasing many dance tune in Japan, but this is not our first time singing this type of song.
[Stephanie] This song is used for the theme song as both the movie and drama, so we felt we needed to touch into the emotions of the story itself. "What will sound the best," is what we thought about.
[Sunday] Was a new challenge for us. We asked Cliff Edge to collaborate with us and they were life, "Yeah!"
[Lina] From the first time we were in the studio together I thought, "This is a good thing.
[Stephanie] We are very close friends, and now that wer are doing more together, it feels as if they have become part of Tenjochiki. (Laughs)
[Dana] I'm very shy at first, but after we went out to dinner after an a-nation performance, all we did was laugh. Now, we feel like one big family.

- What are your feeling about the movie?
[Dana] We read the book and watched the drama, so we know the story. When watching the movie we kept telling ourselves "Do not cry." While watching the movie, we were very impressed.
[Stephanie] The recording for "Here" lasted for three days, and since the song was stuck in our heads, we were trying not to cry! It's very important for people who want to be positive.

- What is "Here" like.
[Sunday] I really like the message connected to my part, so I like to remind people of its meaning.
[Stephanie] A lot of people know the feelings connected to the song. For me, since we now live in Japan, I find myself being sad a lot more.
[Lina] I love listening to the harmony all four of us make together.
[Dana] I cried listening to the song. There is a scene in the movie where Tamura tries hard to keep positive. The scene where he meets his brother I kept telling myself not to cry, but the feeling of the lyrics and the message of the scene overlapped and I ended up crying. But, I also feel sad being away from important people who seem connected to me by the heart.

- What is a good thing about the members.
[Stephanie] I see the group as four friends. Four people who know each other's character and personalities.
[Sunday] During this period we held a third anniversary party with just the members. It was fashionable and nice to toast in celebration at a restaurant.
[Stephanie] It was fun and we took lots of photos.

- "Near~thoughtful 1220" is a very cute song about girls being in love.
[Sunday] I agree.
[Lina] I feel everyone has had that experience, no?
[Sunday] If a girl has had this experience, I think they will connect with this song.

- Do any of you all have a story of love?
[Sunday] No recent love for me. I'm going through a lonely time.
[Lina] I watch dramas and fall in love with the characters.
[All] (Laughs)!

Loosely translated and paraphrased from Japanese:
The theme song to "Homeless Middle School Student," "Here," sung by Tenjochiki // Cliff Edge, has remained in the top 10 of the USEN charts for 11 consecutive weeks.

Korean vocal and dance group Tenjochiki and hip-hop unit Cliff Edge are now riding on the momentum of the collaboration. The four warm vocals of Tenjochiki provide the beautiful melodies and chorus, while Cliff Edge provides the skills to make a perfect rap ballad.

Since the release of their first album in South Korea, Tenjochiki have been dominated the charts there. In Japan, they have gained popularity through collaboration with SEAMO and JeJun (JaeJoong of Tohoshinki/ Dongbangshinki). Cliff Edge has also had experience with collaborations with the release of "Birth~You're the Only One Pt. 2" featuring MAY'S, that reached second plae in early 2007 on the USEN charts. Their major debut "To You," reached number 14 on the Oricon charts.

Although much of the press surrounding "Here" focuses on the movie, the drama began airing in July, and shares the same theme song. Since the the drama was aired, the song song has been popular and remained on many online charts through the upcoming movie release. With this song, Tenjochiki // Cliff Edge may become the break-out artist of the year.

Cliff Edge, Tenjochiki "We Felt the Soul"

Posted by Anonymous On Friday, October 24, 2008 0 comments

Loosely translated and paraphrased from Japanese:
All attention this fall is directed towards the October 25th release of "Homeless Middle School Student." The book was written by one half of the comedy duo "Kirin," Hiroshi Tamura, who was homeless in his middle school years. The book has since become a best-selling autobiography, and is now a movie and drama series.

The movie's theme song, "Here," is sung by the four-woman South Korean Vocal and Dance Unit Cheon Sang Ji Hee (Tenjochiki in Japan) and the three-man Japanese hip-hop group Cliff Edge. In South Korea, Tenjochiki is very popular and was assigned the role of producing the theme song along with Cliff Edge.

Cliff Edge composes of JUN (MC), SHIN (MC), and DJ GEORGIA. In December 2006, they released the indie mini-album which featured the recording "Birth~You're the Only One." It was the 2007 re-release which featured MAY'S and was thus deemed "Part 2" did there popular begin to rise. In May 2008, Cliff Edge hit number 9 on the Oricon Charts with their debut album.

When Tenjochiki heard the song "LIV~To someone important to you," they brought attention to their staff and offered an opportunity to collaborate together. Cliff Edge was initially skeptical over the collaboration see as, "they had been very successful in Korea, but was just adapting to foreign markets." In the end, Cliff Edge accepted the collaboration

And with the offer to work on the theme song to "Homeless Middle School Student," the original message in the movie was but to song thus, the lyrics to "Here" was completed.

"They have both great talent and appearance. We always feel like brothers to Tenjochiki. Therefore, we can act ourselves while laughing, crying, or singing." Said Cliff Edge leader and songwriter JUN.

Cliff Edge will release their first major single on November 19th titles "The Way Tomorrow Will Be." "Homeless Middle School Student" opens in Japanese theatres on October 25th.

Before performing, chatted with Shin about music.
Its still CLIFF EDGE! Fantastic!

First time wearing formal night gown.

Not used to walking with this...

Unknowingly the movie is...

Does it suit us?

Is it too revealing?
A little worried...

I'm a fan of such clothing!

My personal favorite colour, red.

Is it not natural?!

Surprise at the 21st Tokyo International Film Festival!

Posted by estelgrace On Sunday, October 19, 2008 0 comments

Fans got a huge surprise today as photos of Tenjochiki walking on the 21st Tokyo International Film Festival's green carpet appeared online. The four beautiful ladies accompanied Koike Teppei and other actors of "Homeless Chugakusei" (Homeless Middleschool Student), one of the most awaited films this year.
Tenjochiki's song, "Here", in collaboration with Cliff Edge, was chosen as the movie's theme song. "Here" will release on October 22, 3 days before the release of "Homeless Chugakusei" on silver screens across Japan on October 25.

The Tokyo International Film Festival (established in 1985) is one of the premiere film festivals of Asia. It is one of Asia's only two competitive film festivals accredited by FIAPF (Fedération International des Associations de Producteurs de Films; English: International Federation of Film Producers Associations). It is now known as the largest film festival in Asia.

This year, it opened in ritzy Roppongi Hills on Saturday, October 18, with an environmental theme "Ecology — Preservation of Earth's Environment." Filmakers around the world greeted Japanese movie fans on a symbolic green carpet made of recycled plastic bottles instead of the traditional red. All films will be screened with electricity generated by wind energy.

Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, Hollywood actress Julianne Moore, Hong Kong's acclaimed director John Woo (director of the epic "Red Cliff"and American flims "Face/Off" and "Mission Impossible II"), actor Tony Leung, actor/singer Koike Teppei, Japanese-Taiwanese heartthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro, popular Japanese actor Satoshi Tsumabuki, Japanese actress Yoshino Kimura, and directors Atsuro Watanabe and Tetsu Maeda are among the 300 or so guests that walked on the green carpet.

19 works are reserved for special screenings at the festival. A total of 15 films — selected from 690 films from 72 countries and territories — have been entered in the main competition section for the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix and other awards. Academy Award-winning American actor Jon Voight will head the board of judges for the films, all of which will be screened for the first time in Asia. The Sakura Grand Prix and other award results will be announced on October 26.

The Tokyo International Film Festival has aspired to be the premiere festival in Asia for international films with the same prestige as Cannes, Venice or Berlin. The festival will last from Saturday, October 18 until Sunday, October 26.

Since there had been no announcement from AVEX that Tenjochiki would attend the prestigous Tokyo International Film Festival, it was quite a happy shock to see them on the green carpet in gorgeous, floor-length evening gowns.
